On Wednesday we had 3 people come out to hike the Rye Spur Trail to Fourmile Lake. Since there were just the 3 of us, we decided to skip the shuttle and just go to the overlook.

We started hiking a little after 10 AM and it was already 63o. The trail was in good condition as we made our way through the forest of dense and shady mixed conifer trees. This trail can be shared with horses or mountain bikes, but on this day we had the trail to ourselves.

We made it to the overlook and enjoyed a short lunch. We looked out on the Klamath Basin, the long straight stretch of Highway 140, Pelican Butte, and the Crater Lake Rim.

We headed back the car and were back by 2pm. We had hiked 5.75 miles and 1,234 feet of elevation gain.
